Mansa Secondary pupil drowns

A-17-year-old pupil of Mansa Secondary School drowned in the Mansa River yesterday March 6, 2020.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said the incidence happened between 14:00 hours and 1700 hours.

Ms Katongo said the pupil identified as Blessings Kalumba of Chitakwa Village, Chief Chimese in Mansa District was with her two schoolmates swimming in the river behind Mansa Pleasure Resort.

“As they were swimming, the Blessing sat on a big rock but suddenly slipped into the water and was swept away by a strong current. Police accompanied by Fire Brigade are still searching for the body,” she said.
