By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Zambia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative EITI says the EITI 9th report shows that Zambia has made a meaningful progress in terms of transparency and accountability in the mining sector.

ZEITI vice Chairperson Edward Lange said Zambia joined EITI to promote transparency around revenue generated from the mining sector and paid to the government.

Mr Lange said the objective is to put sustainability measures in the initiative of EITI and the stakeholders involved to see if there is a balance in hoe the revenue is received and distributed.

He said government should put up a system that will show how the resources from mines are been utilized.

Mr Lange said that by maximizing and publishing the benefits from the mining sector it will improve the confidence of investors and lead to economic growth.

He was speaking at a capacity building workshop on the report to mining companies, Local authorities and other stakeholders on the same.
