An American investor, Railnet International, is in the country to invest over 11 billion United States dollars in the rail transport system in the country.
Railnet International Chief Executive Officer Don Kress said the rail system will connect Zambia to the rest of Africa.
Mr Kress said his company offers world class infrastructure transportation solutions which will help Zambia catch up with international standards.
He says revamping the railway sector is NOT a matter of option but necessity given its importance to economic growth of the country.
Mr Kress said once revamped, the railway sector will provide passengers with cheaper transportation alternatives.
