Solwezi Municipal Council has trained three village banking groups in the district with entrepreneurial skills to improve the livelihood of the local people.
This is with the aim of helping the local people to acquire financial Literacy, improve their management of funds and promote independence among women.
The training was also important in that after acquiring the knowledge, the trainees will be able to venture in various businesses to better their livelihood.
After the training, the village banking groups were provided with startup kits which comprised the cash box, books and pens among others.
Solwezi Municipal Council Senior Community Development Officer Vainess Chalungumana encouraged the women to work hard and save adequately as the knowledge and money attained in such groups can foster more economic ventures.
Ms Chalungumana also assured the trainees that the Local Authority will be there to assist them in any way it can as regards operations of the village banking groups.
The participants thanked Solwezi Municipal Council for the knowledge imparted and donation of the village banking startup kit that will help increase the safety of the funds saved.
