The Food Reserve Agency -FRA says it has recovered 41 bags of white maize, valued at four 451,000 Kwacha, stolen in Pemba District of Southern Province .
FRA Public Relations Coordinator John Chipandwe says the 41 bags were stolen by Vernon Hampondo of Lusaka’s Kanyama Compound, who has since been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with hard Labour by the Monze subordinate court.
He Mr Hampondo had attempted to bribe the guards that were stationed at the shed but that his offer was rejected, but decided to break into Pemba shed and stole the maize.
Mr Chipandwe has since warned that the Agency is working closely with the police to ensure people stealing at the FRA Strategic reserves and other Government property are brought to book.
