Professionalism at TIO impresses MISA Zambia

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia has commended The Independent Observer (TIO) for it professional reporting.

MISA Zambia Chairperson Hellen Mwale said that MISA is pleased with the objectivity at The Independent Observer.

Ms Mwale said the way The Independent Observer write stories where they give space to all sources is an objectivity and balancing up news.

She said this when MISA visited The Independent Observer offices in Chingola to encourage and guide Chingola based media houses on how to report on the volatile situation which has rocked the district.

“We are touring media houses in Chingola to encourage you to report accurately on the situation in Chingola. We also advise you avoid alarming and sensational reporting at this stage,” he said.

Ms Mwale told The Independent Observer to keep up with the profession way of reporting and keep up with the good work.

She said media houses should report on issue affecting the community not causing alarm or attack certain group of people.

“Give media space to everyone so that they air their views and avoid aligning yourselves to a certain. We came to encourage the media houses here because of what is happening around,” she said.

She said media houses should be security conscious when reporting on the volatility of the district, focusing on key issues in the report not to raise an alarm

And The Independent Observer Founding Editor Chinya Sakalaa who interacted with the team expressed gratitude toward the visit.

Ms Mwale was accompanied by Media Legal Defence Chairperson Henry Kabwe and MISA Programs Officer Margaret Kabuswe.
