President Lungu attends mass in Kawambwa

President Edgar Lungu has called on the clergy not to get weary preaching the word of God to politicians.

President Lungu said the clergy have a huge duty to preach to politicians.

The Head of State said as the elections draw near, some fake politicians will start attending church services hence the need to inculcate messages of God in them.

He urged the clergy not to be tired teaching the word of God to politicians.

The Head of State said this when He attended a church service at St. Mary’s Parish in Kawambwa district.

Meanwhile, President Lungu has expressed shock to learn that the 2019/2020 farming inputs for Kawambwa District were delivered late.

President Lungu said as far as he was concerned Kawambwa District received farming inputs long before the onset of the rains.

He told the congregation that he received reports indicating that the province had received farming inputs on time.

However, President Lungu said he will follow up the matter so as to establish what transpired with the distribution of farming inputs.

And President Lungu has appealed to the people of Kawambwa to take advantage of the favourable weather pattern by engaging in farming.

The Head of State said government will do everything possible to ensure that agriculture activities are supported in the province.

President Lungu pointed out that government remains resolute to taking development to all parts of the country.

He explained that his visit to Kawambwa was to appreciate the investment opportunities in the district and to check on government operations.

Speaking earlier, Luapula Province Minister, Nickson Chilangwa disclosed that the province received late, top dressing fertiliser.

Mr Chilangwa also cited poor township roads as some of the challenges the district was facing.

And St Mary’s Parish Priest-In-Charge, James Chisanga has implored President Lungu not to succumb to the international community who want to compromise national values.

Father Chisanga said the country’s values should not be compromised for the sake of foreign aid.

Father Chisanga stressed that national values should be preserved at all cost as they define a nation.

The Priest assured President Lungu that the church will continue to pray for him so that he does not succumb to evil forces.

Father Chisanga commended the Head of State for his commitment in championing the upholding of national values.

Meanwhile Father Chisanga has urged parents to be responsible for the up bring of their children.
He noted that it is the responsibility for parents to provide food, clothes and education for their children.

Father Chisanga bemoaned that some parents are in a habit of neglecting their biological children.
He revealed that some parents want other people to care for their children when it is their responsibility to do so.

Father Chisanga said if children are not cared for Zambia’s future will be shattered.

He said the country’s future depends on the young people, hence the need to safeguard and protect them against ill vices such as child labour/ZANIS.
