Chingola Council nods K65.6m budget for 2020

Chingola Municipal Council has approved a budget K65.6 million for 2020 civic year.

Finance Committee Chairperson William Kabuswe said 60 per cent of the locally generated revenue will be channeled towards service delivery.

Mr Kabuswe said the 40 per cent will be for administration and emoluments.

Speaking when he was presenting the budget in a special Council meeting, Mr Kabuswe said K1, 350,000 had been set aside for the Ward Development Fund (WDF) which will see each ward get an allocation of K50, 000.

He said his committee has lined up programs and activities specifically aimed at addressing some of the community priorities as highlighted in the strategic plan.

He itemised the programs as security of land tenure, improvement of township roads, waste management, street lighting and provision of clean and safe drinking water by sinking of borehole in the peri urban.

Mr Kabuswe said the itemised programs are in a bid to improve living stands of the people.

He said once itemised programs are achieved will help finance micro community developmental projects and provision of basic community services in wards.

Mr Kabuswe has urged his fellow Councillors to support council management in the implementation of the 2020 budget.
