Mulenga Kapwepwe fired as ZNBC Chairperson

By JOHN SAKALA
ZNBC Chairperson Mulenga Kapwepwe has been fired.

Ms Kapwepwe has confirmed the development to The Independent Observer in an interview.

Reports reaching The Independent Observer are that Ms Kapwepwe has been kicked out for allowing the two unions from ZNBC and Communicators to meet the Minister of Broadcasting Dora Siliya against her wish.

Zambia Union of Broadcasters and other Information Disseminators (ZUBID) and National Union of Communication Workers (NUCW)wanted to meet Ms Siliya to demand for their November salary last week.

But Ms Siliya had allegedly refused to meet them but after some coercion which at this point it is clearly that it was from Ms Kapwepwe, she agreed to meet them for only 12 minutes.

This coerced meeting did not settle with Ms Siliya said who told Ms Kapwepwe that the job of who she wants to meet was her discretion and not Ms Kapwepwe’s.

The nine member team of union representative met Ms Siliya at her office around 10:20 hours of December 10, 2019.

Government owes ZNBC K7 million and this is the reason that has soured the situation such that Ms Kapwepwe has been sacked. See letter below.
