Democratic Party (DP) Spokesperson Judith Kabemba says the legalisation of marijuana will only benefit the elite.
In statement made available to The Independent Observer, Ms Kabimba said legalisation of marijuana is good but the catch phrase is the licencing.
“We have also seen that growing of weed has been legalised in Zambia but our understanding is that one needs to have a licence which would cost USD250,000. The question one should ask is which Zambian can afford such amount of money.
“Therefore when we look at this move as good as it might be, to some extent, we see it as a move that will benefit the same group of people only known to the President and his team,” she said.
