RDA sets aside K28 million to compensate settlers between Chinsali and Nakonde

Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Jobbicks Kalumba has commended the Road Development Agency (RDA) for embarking on the final assessment of compensating settlers on the stretch between Chinsali and Nakonde on the Great North Road.

Government through the RDA has set aside about 28 million Kwacha to compensate settlers on the stretch between Chinsali and Nakonde whose works are expected to commence in August this year.

Dr Kalumba says the Chinsali – Nakonde road which has been in a deplorable state for many years will soon be repaired.

He notes that the status of the road has affected the movement of the people and goods.

Dr Kalumba said this when a team from RDA paid a courtesy call on him at his office yesterday.

Meanwhile RDA Environmentalist Gershom Chilukusha said the agency has put in place measures to have the contract signed with the contractor for works to commence.
