KCM hospital, school wearing ugly faces-Musukwa

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Mines Minister Richard Musukwa has told Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) to improve the outlook of its hospital and school.

Speaking when he toured both Nchanga South Mine Hospital and Nchanga Trust Secondary School, Mr Musukwa advised KCM to have a retouch on the two facilities.

He said both the school and the hospital are old and urgently needs a new touch so that it reflects the standards of the mine.

The Minister said KCM should not just focus on the production and ignore key infrastructures to its operational and long term plans.

He said the school acts as a nursery for the human resource of the mine while the mine has immediate and direct bearing on the production of the mine.

The Minister said KCM should get back to the old days where everything was to standard.

Mr Musukwa said that people who are employed by the company are looking at these facilities as where they will take their children and which are Nchanga Mine hospital and Nchanga Trust.

He said KCM is a world class mine and everything should be to world class standard.

Mr Musukwa said that the infrastructure should have support for social structure and its hospitals should not lack medicines and school should be at its best.
