Another resident in Ndola’s Kawama Township has allegedly been shot dead by Zambia National Service officers barely a month after another resident was shot on allegations of mealie meal smuggling.
Chifubu Member of Parliament Frank Ngambi confirmed the development which he described as unfortunate.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Ngambi said the incident should be condemned as the victim was harmless.
He said that it is regrettable that men in uniform are using force on harmless residents who are trying to earn a living.
And when contacted Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga said she had not yet received an official report on the matter.
Ms Katanga said that she could not confirm on something that had not been officially communicated.
According to eye witnesses the said resident was carrying two bags of mealie meal on a bicycle.
