Lusaka’s Burundian stabs friend to death over meat, bolts

A Burundian national of Lusaka’s Chibolyo Tonwship is on the run after knifing his friend to death over meat.

John Kajengemana, a butcher of Chibolyo is on the run eluding cops after he killed his friend Phillip Nyama, on June 6, 2018 of the same Township.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has told The Independent Observer that Kajengemana in his 20s had stabbed Mr Nyama 33, on the left side of the neck using a sharp knife.

Ms Katongo said Mr Nyama had sustained a deep cut and later died after severe bleeding.

She said the suspect who work from an abattoir in Chibolya had given some meat and a knife to Mr Nyama for safe keeping.

“But around 22: 00 hours when he went to collect his parcel, a quarrel ensued. That was when the Kajengemana is reported to have stabbed Mr Nyama using a knife and he ran away. A man hunt has since been launched to bring to book,” she said.

She said the he body of Mr Nyama is in the Lusaka University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

In another development, a driver died on the spot in Masaiti and others were left injured when a Scania hit into a Toyota Padro which was going in the same direction.

Ms Katongo said Peter Kundanda 55, the driver of Scania truck registration number 74 MZ GP, died while two other people sustained injuries.

She said Kundanda died after hitting a Toyota Prado registration number ALR 3618 which was moving in the same direction and later overturned.

“The accident happened yesterday at about 1500 hours at Mandondo area in Masaiti on Ndola-Kabwe road. Those injured are driver of Toyota Wisdom Sinkamba and his passenger. The body of Kundanda is in Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” he said.

In a related development, Sharon Mutale 26 of Mulundu Village, Chief Chitimukulu in Mungwi died upon arrival at Kasama General Hospital after she fell off a moving car.

“The accident happened when the driver of Toyota Dyna registration number AAP 6214 failed to ascend a hill and later reversed and hit into a pillar of a building. The driver only identified as John is on the run while the body of Ms Mutale is in Kasama General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmodern,” she said.
