Copperbelt Patriotic Front (PF) Provincial Chairperson Nathan Chanda says the late Republican President Michael Chilufya Sata had a passion for Zambia and its growth.
Mr Chanda who is also Luanshya Mayor said that Mr Sata’s passion was evident in the several developmental projects he initiated across the country.
In a media statement, Mr Chanda said there was there was nothing that really preoccupied the mind and focus of Mr Sata than Zambia and its people.
Mr Chanda described the late President as a selfless leader who was available to serve Zambians.
He asked the youth to emulate Mr Sata by having a clear focus of what they want to achieve in life.
“His humility and love for the poor made him dear to the people especially the youths. Severally Mr Sata would host the poorest from the society to dine with him at State House. I call on youths to be equal partners in developing Zambia by being tolerant like Mr Sata and shun being used as tools of political violence.
“As we celebrate his life of fearlessness, we must be tolerant to divergent views like Mr Sata who had a big heart to forgive and was the very epitome of love. To all the youths pursuing a career in politics, Mr Sata is a true model to follow in order to succeed and contribute meaningfully to the country,” he said.
Mr Chanda implored the youths to stand strong and find inspiration by learning from the great man of the soil of Zambia who was selfless, humble and tolerant, had a desire to stand with the poor and was focused.
“He has inspired many of us on how to remain focused. Even as we celebrate his life today, we still remain loyal to him even in his death. It will be important for of us who believed in his legacy to get together and make it a reality through unity of purpose, peace and love for one another.
“It is pleasing to note that the man who took over from Mr Sata, President Edgar Lungu has also proved to have the attitude of the former President. Tolerance is key to the governance of the country. President Lungu has being called names, but he has remained focused. As we remember President Sata, we want to wish our current President Lungu to continue with this path of love he has shown to the Zambian people,” he said.
