The clergy in Chingola have called for collaboration between the church, civic leaders and other stakeholders to enhance development.
The clergy said the church and civic leaders need to have a platform where they call a spade by its name and look at issues affecting communities.
Independent Churches of Zambia (ICZ) Chingola Chairperson Ellison Bwalya said leaders should collaborate and have a real perspective without political inclination.
Bishop Bwalya said genuine questions always gives people genuine answers, hence the need for the church and civic leaders to stand together in order to win the fight.
Bishop Bwalya was speaking at the ‘Participatory Review and Reflection Process’ (PRRP) organized by ActionAid in collaboration with the Catholic Diocese of Ndola.
He said community issues need genuine intervention with sober minds because they are real issues without needing an interpreter.
Bishop Bwalya said the church is accused of been political whenever it comes out in finding lasting solutions on issues affecting communities.
Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia Chingola Chairperson Ricky Kamuwanga said there is need to form a cohesion.
Dr Kamuwanga also said a permanent system should be put in place that will work for the people during and after the election.
He said the two mother bodies need to relate well and support each other to deliver the best for communities.
He said there is no need for acrimony as both are serving the same communities in solving their challenges.
And Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) Chingola Chairperson Royd Mwandu said coming together as one especially now that people are facing hardships would create a strong voice for the voiceless.
“We are the light of the world so we need to speak louder for the people who are affected in one way or the other,” Rev Mwandu said.
ActionAid Fair Green and Global Project Officer Brian Moyowanyambe said the meeting was to enhance stakeholder engagement and for accountability purpose.
