No truck should park in CBD, Mwaiseni-Chingola Mayor

By JOHN SAKALA
Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo says Chingola Municipal Council will not allow any truck to park in central district business (CBD) and second class in Mwaiseni.

This was after reports of illicit activities happening around areas where truck drivers park their trucks.

Mr Tembo said truckers were spiking prostitution activities along David Kaunda road in Mwaiseni and behind Nchanga hotel in town.

He said Chingola roads have just been face-lifted and the local authority will not allow truckers to either pass through town or to park in town.

The Mayor who was accompanied by Officer-In-Charge of Chingola Central Police Station Anthony Mphanza and Chingola District Officer-In-Charge for Traffic Clement Kibela said any truck that park in town must be impounded.

He advised the drivers mainly from Gomes parking along David Kaunda to help in maintaining cleanliness in the district.

“Once impounded, the trucks will only be released after paying a fine. We want sanity and trucks should use the nearby trucking parks. How do we allow drivers to park in town where there are no toilets?” he said.

Mr Tembo also visited Choppies parking areas where he again engaged the drivers.
