Patson Daka, Enock Mwepu get diplomatic cheer

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Zambia’s biggest soccer export to the Austrian and UEFA super league Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu will this Saturday get a rare diplomatic cheer from the gallery instead of the usual local fans.

Ambassador Anthony Mukwita will be rooting for the boys and the team from the stands on invitation from the club management as the embassy appreciates the players contribution to diplomacy.

“Patson and Enock are true diplomats and deserve all the support we can give them as an embassy because they do not only wear the Red Bull jersey and crest but fly the Zambian flag very high,” he said.

FC Salzburg is the number one team in Austria with Patson and Enock being top scorers in the exotic town and history rich city located in Wals-Siezenheim.

Mukwita will be in the stadium tomorrow to support the great work the boys are doing when they take on Austria Wien.

Recently, Patson scored a brace forcing a draw between his team and LASK Linz in the Tipico Bundesliga encounter week 8 round of matches.

Patson netted the goal after receiving a great pass from country mate Enoch as they keep the Zambian flag high and continue to make Salzburg bright.

It is the experience of the embassy that sports personalities play a crucial role in enhancing the good name of Zambia from the days of Kalusha Bwalya aka the Great Kalu and now Patson and Enock.

“You can see that President Edgar Lungu himself takes time off his busy schedule to root for the boys whenever he can and we are trying to replicate that,” said Ambassador Mukwita.

This is contained in a statement issued by Kellys Kaunda First Secretary  for press and Public Relations embassy of Zambia in Berlin.
