Nchanga MP gives K25, 000 for village banking

By JOHN SAKALA
Nchanga Member of Parliament Chali Chilombo has given out K25, 000 to four women groups under the village banking initiative.

The benefiting groups comprising over 100 women come from Muzabwera, Buyantashi and Kasala and were grouped into four.

Speaking to the women over the weekend at Lubuto Trust College, Mr Chilombo said he had chosen village banking (icilimba) because the benefiting women have different business needs.

He said some women are marketeers, others are traders while others are into farming, hence the need to have evolving funds which will curter according to the needs of each beneficiary.

Speaking on behalf of the women Jennifer Mapulanga of Buntungwa Ward thanked the MP for the women empowerment.

Ms Mapulanga said most of the beneficiaries were widows and such initiative will help them emerge from poverty and be able to send children to school.
