By JOHN SAKALA
Kakoso residents yesterday mobbed their Member of Parliament Richard Musukwa as he went to address a community where he donated K50, 000 as empowerment fund for youth and women clubs.

Speaking to residents who turned out in large numbers at Kakoso hall, Mr Musukwa said Kakoso is a heart of Chililabombwe and he wants to transform the area by ensuring that it has roads, water and flushable toilets.

He said sewer project is underway by Mulonga Water and Sanitation to put up sewer lines so that residents in Kakoso can live in a dignified manner.

Mr Musukwa who is Mines Minister said he cannot manage to give money to individuals but he instead implored youths and women to mobilise themselves into groups so that he can be dealing with them as group.

“To the youths and women clubs that are already registered, I have given you K50, 000 as a starting point and we move on from there. You elected me to change your lives and as such I will continue to work as your servant in improving your livelihood,” he said.

He said the densely populated community of Kakoso had equally been allocated a stretch of six kilometres to be done under the Zambia Urban Road project.

He said once the Township has water, roads, electricity and sewer its outlook will greatly improve.

At the same event, several UPND members led by UPND Chililabombwe Constituency Youth Secretary Layson Mayibe defected to the ruling PF.

Speaking after being received, Mr Mayibe below said he was tired of being forced to oppose the PF when the ruling PF is delivering.

He said the UPND leadership was using him to insult Mr Musukwa but he was tired of oppressing leaders that are delivering.

As he was coming from the Kakoso hall, Mr Musukwa took time to walk on foot to give out PF party regalia to everyone he met and to the aged, he gave them money.
