Chililabombwe clears trucks in CBD

By JOHN SAKALA
Chililabombwe Municipal Council has cleared all trucks from the central district business (CBD).

Chililabombwe Town Clerk Cosmas Chalusa said the move is aimed at curbing prostitution and possible outbreak of cholera.

Mr Chalusa said the presence of truckers in CBD without ablution facilities is a risk and could lead to possible outbreak of diarrhea.

He said the presence of truckers in CBD led to a lot of sex workers trooping to the trucks, the situation he said couldn’t be condoned.

“We are urging all truck drivers to cooperate and we also planted state and council police to monitor for compliance purposes. We are assuring them that we are coming up with a modern truck parking area which may be constructed under the private public partnership.

“But at the moment we have a fully operational council truck park with ablution blocks called China Hinan with running water. The purpose of this move is aimed at controlling the activities in town. We are also controlling street vending.
