Army Commander Lieutenant General William Sikazwe has asked all Christians and people of good-will to continue praying for peace and harmony in the country.
Lt Gen Sikazwe has also asked for unceasing prayers for President Lungu and all leaders in the country to continue to lead the nation with divine wisdom and the will of God.
Lt. Gen Sikazwe was speaking at Holy Saviour Parish in Kafue when he delivered a speech during the thanksgiving mass for Bishop Dr Moses Hamungole, yesterday.
The Army Commander took the opportunity to recognize the work that Bishop Hamungole had done in Zambia and other parts of the world during his past twenty-five (25) years of service as a Catholic Priest.
Bishop Hamungole has served as Director of Yatsani Radio in Lusaka, Director of Vatican Radio (English and Swahili Service) in Rome Italy, and Communications Director at the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of East Africa (AMECEA) and is currently serving as Chairperson of the Communications Division of the Zambia Council of Catholic Bishops.
Meanwhile, delivering his thanksgiving speech, Bishop Hamungole said his Silver Jubilee is a moment to thank the Lord and remember people who greatly contributed to his life and formation.
The Bishop also took the opportunity to thank Late Archbishop of Lusaka Adrian Mung’andu, late Medardo Cardinal Mazombwe, retired Archbishop of Lusaka Telesphore Mpundu and current Archbishop of Lusaka Dr Alick Banda, adding that, “thanxgiving is a moment with the Lord and my encounters with these men and many religious sisters and people of God has helped me to be where I am today.”
“All Christians belong to one family of God and should pray for each other and stand together,” he said.
Bishop Hamungole took the opportunity to appeal to the congregation for financial assistance for the construction of a new cathedral for Monze Diocese to be called, Holy Trinity Cathedral.
