The Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) is upset with the shooting to death of its member in Chipata by Zambia Police.
ZGU is demanding for answers into what led to the gunning down of Chila Golf club Captain James Bwalya by a Chipata cop.
On Monday Bwalya died after he was intentionally shot by a police officer.
But Eastern Deputy Police Chief Geoffrey Kunda claimed Bwalya was shot dead by a stray bullet that was fired by a cop manning the Zambia Revenue Authority regional office in Chipata.
Kunda alleged that Bwalya attempted to break in the premises.
In an interview, ZGU president, Jason Kazilimani has expressed shock at the development.
Kazilimani said that the golf fraternity has been robbed off a vibrant member.
He said that Bwalya’s demise raises more questions than answers, hence begging for convincing answers from the police.
He has described the late Bwalya fondly known ‘JB’ as a person who was responsible and instrumental in growing the game of golf especially in the northern region of the country.
And Kazilimani has dispelled allegations from the Police that Bwalya attempted to break into the ZRA regional office, arguing that he was not anytime a criminal, but dedicated golfer.
