Shepolopolo riots, demolishes Mauritius

By Sporter Writer
Zambia National Female Soccer Team Striker Rachael Nachula scored eight goals and had five when Shepolopolo demolished Mauritius 15-0 in their opening game of this year’s COSAFA championship being held in South Africa.

The Copper Queens put seven past the Mauritius goalkeeper in the first 45 minutes and added eight more in the second half to claim their biggest win at any competition.

Nachula walked away with the player of the match accolade following her impressive display.

Having finished fourth at last year’s championship, the girls will be hoping to better that performance this year despite the absence of their captain Misozi Zulu and her vice Barbra Banda who have since trekked to Europe.

They take on Namibia on August 3 before wrapping up group B action against Botswana three days later.

Shepolopolo Coach Beauty Mwamba has since commended the team for playing to instructions and hopes they will reciprocate the same performance against Namibia in their second group B game.

Mwamba has described Namibia as a good and tough side which her girls will need to be at their best to beat.
