Chief Ufwenuka has died

Chief Ufwenuka of the Tonga Speaking People in Chikuni of Monze district has died.

Chief Ufwenuka died this morning around 05:00 hours after an illness.

Both officials at Chikuni Mission Hospital and the Chief’s Representative Mackman Hamando have confirmed the development to The Independent Observer.

Chikuni Mission hospital has confirmed the death of the Chief saying the traditional ruler was rushed to hospital last night and died in the early hours of today.

And Mr Hamando said the death of the Chief is a great loss to the Chiefdom.

He said the Chief collapsed while on the way to Monze hospital for referral and was quickly rushed back to Chikuni Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Chief Ufwenuka who died at 66, is survived by a wife and eight children.

Mr Hamando who ruled out any foul play called for calm and peace during the mourning period.

The body of the late Chief is in Monze Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
