Chingola Mayor calls for right procedure in land acquisition

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo has called on the residents of Chingola to follow the right procedures in land acquisition and construction.

Speaking during the full Council meeting, Mr Tembo said the council has noticed that people are not following the right channel of obtaining building permits despite the effort from the local authority to curb illegalities.

He said those building without permits would have their building demolished if they are found wanting.

Mr Tembo said the council has formed a task force who will be going round inspecting.

He said the council will be forced to follow the act that stipulates that those building without council permits will be convinced for two years.

“It is not our wish to do so but the people have left us with no choice because they are not adhering to the law so we will let the law to take it cause.
