2 more constituencies proposed for Chingola

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Stakeholders in Chingola have proposed to have two more constituencies to make four plus two wards and 13 polling station.

This was done after a three day successful Delimitation sittings by the Electoral Commissioner of Zambia (ECZ) which saw different stakeholders from political parties, the clergy and community members from Chingola and Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs).

Chingola Electoral Officer Kabombo Mutakela said the deliberation went smoothly and the stakeholders’ contribution was overwhelming.

Mr Mutakela said looking at the growing population and the period for delimitation, the proposals had come at the right time.

He thanked all political parties and all stakeholders who participated.

Mr Mutakela said once the all process is done and the proposals are successful the constituencies and wards will be effective in 2021.

“We should always remember that whatever we are were doing was for the sake of everyone as Zambians not political parties,” he said.

The proposal is to have Nchanga, Chingola East, Chingola Central and Chingola West Constituencies.

Currently Chingola District has two constituencies Nchanga and Chingola.
