Chief Madzimawe of the Ngoni speaking people of Kasenengwa district has bemoaned the continued bickering between the offices of Mayors and Districts Commissioners (DC’s) in most districts across eastern province.
Speaking when he moved a vote of thanks during the launch of U=U campaign in Chipata yesterday, which was absconded by both Chipata Mayor, Sinoya Mwale and the DC Kalunga Zulu, Chief Madzimawe observed that the continued squabbles between these two offices is impacting negatively on service delivery.
Chief Madzimawe says traditional leaders are worried of this unbecoming trend, calling on government to come up with a clear policy that will spell out the duties of the respective offices.
He is hopeful that this will help in curtailing the problem, adding that it will also allow people to get back to work.
Meanwhile, Chief Madzimawe has called on various stakeholders including politicians to join the fight against HIV/AIDS, noting that the scourge knows no political boundary.
The Chief is optimistic that the launch of the U=U campaign has triggered the start of achieving an HIV free province.
