Nyaus abduct 2 girls in Chipangali

Nyau dancers have abducted two girls of Musakanya one village in Chief Mafuta’s area on allegations that they were mocking the traditional dancers.

Confirming the development to The Independent Observer this morning, Esnart Mwale who is from the family of the dethroned Chief Mafuta, says the girls aged 13 and 16 years respectively were abducted yesterday around 14:00 hours, and are still being held at ‘Damwbe’ in Chimwala village.

Ms Mwale said the girls mate their fate as they were about to appear before a village council.

And Chief Chanje of the Chewa speaking people in Chipangali District has also confirmed the development to The Independent Observer and has indicated that the girls are in grades 5 and 8 respectively.

The Chief has expressed concerned at the behaviour of the Nyau dancers, saying it puts the lives of the girls at risk as their whereabouts still remain unknown.

The Chief said he will reports the issue to Kalonga Gawa Undi and has appealed to the Police to move and bring the culprits to book.
