Solwezi Mayor Nicholas Mukumbi has donated a set of 16 football jerseys to the Solwezi District select Football team.
Mukumbi said that he received an official letter from the Solwezi District Education Board Secretary seeking financial assistance in procuring the jerseys to the Solwezi team made up of 12 Solwezi-based schools of under 13 and under 17 participants.
After interacting with teachers from various schools in the District, Mukumbi said he decided to purchase the jerseys from his personal funds because of the importance of the sporting activities to the learning institutions.
Mukumbi has called on the Solwezi team to do their best in the upcoming competitions so that they may get picked to play in the Provincial team or the National team.
The Solwezi Mayor was speaking at the Solwezi Civic Centre where the football jerseys were received by Solwezi District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Febby Kilele and Physical Education Sports Teaching Association of Zambia on behalf of the Solwezi Select Football team which is participating in the inter district games tournament.
And in giving a vote a vote of thanks Physical Education Sports and Teachers Association of Zambia Chairperson Beverly Kahilu commended Mukumbi for the wonderful donation and urged him to continue with the same gesture.
