KCM East Mill control Room computers stolen

Two control room computers for cobalt processing plant at Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) East Mill plant have been stolen.

Both Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga and KCM General Manager for Corporate Affairs Eugene Chungu have confirmed the theft of the two Computers valued at US $2, 200.

Ms Katanga said the theft happened on June 18, around 19:30 hrs at KCM East Mill Crusher Control Room in Nchanga Mine.

She said the entry into the building was done through the main door after damaging the locking system and exiting through the same door.

“Three KCM employees namely; Nephas Sausande 51, a Shift-In-Charge of SQ 35/B Chingola, Silas Mukupa 50, also the Shift-In-Charge of SQ180 C&D Nchanga North Township in Chingola and Edward Chileshe 50, a Controller of 13 Chishinka Street in Kabundi East. The three have been detained to assist in investigations. However, no recovery has been made. Investigations instituted,” she said.

And Mr Chunguo said the computers will be replaced indicating that production had not affected.

He said the situation is normal and works have continued.
