3 members of the same family die in Great East road accident

Three people have died while two others sustained serious injuries in a head on collision involving a Toyota Runx and Iveco truck along the Great East road accident.

The incident accident happened when the driver of the driver of the Toyota Runx lost control due to excessive speed and went to hit into the oncoming an Iveco truck.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo who confirmed the accident involving John Chileshe of Chipata the driver of the Runx registration number ACZ 9433.

Ms Katongo said Mr Chileshe who was coming from Chipata direction had four passengers on board before he hit into Iveco truck registration number PE 2835 /PE 8397T.

She said truck which was being driven by Ibrahim Nasanganya 37, of Blantyre, Malawi had two passengers on board coming from the Lusaka direction.

“The accident occurred 75 Kilometres West of Nyimba Boma along the Great East Road on June 5, 2019 at about 14: 00 hours at Chamilala area. The driver of the Runx was among those that died on the spot after sustaining fatal injuries, broken forehead and legs.

“His wife Milica Mutale~Chileshe died after sustaining broken legs and, Fainess Mulenga also died after sustaining broken forehead and broken right leg both of the same address,” she said.
