President Edgar Lungu has made a final decision on Vedanta Mineral Resources the investors of Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) after meeting all stakeholders.
President Lungu met the Chamber of Mines, Mine owners, mine unions, Chambers of Commerce on the Copperbelt this evening in Ndola at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium conference facilty where he said Government will invoke disengagement procedure with Vedanta Mineral Resources for breaking investment agreement.
He said Vedanta had been promising of injecting money in the mine but has not honoured the promise.
President Lungu upon arrival at the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe said he would do what the people of the Copperbelt want because because government has had enough from the mine.
Chililabombwe had already protested against the investors of KCM and Chingola was only stopped by police to stage anti-KCM protests.
