GBM exposed

By NCHIMUNYA MIYOBA
United Party for National Development (UPND) says it has unearthed a scam by the ruling Patriotic Front party in which a named party official is working with the former Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba in buying individuals and giving them UPND regalia to parade them as defectors in the district.

UPND Kitwe District Chairperson Timothy Mfula said the party is aware of the maneuvers that GBM is making in Kitwe’s Chimwemwe Township.

“Our party structures are all intact in the district. We know you are using a certain man in Chimwemwe to buy individuals that will pose as defectors from UPND. We are ahead of you sir and we are saying to all our structures in Kitwe to be on the lookout and watch out for the traitors who want to destabilise the party. GBM wants to sale the people of Zambia for 30 pieces of silver,” he said.

Mr Mfula who was speaking during a press briefing to give solidarity to the party President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday said UPND will remain a party of order and discipline as seen by the manner the party president has shown by not responding to insults and attacks of Mr Mwamba.

“As Kitwe district we want to commend the National management of the UPND for passing a vote of no confidence in GBM. The party is formed on principles of discipline. We want to thank GBM for paying a courtesy call on the UPND in past four years and we wish him well. We now know that all the insults and pangas have gone with him,” he said.

Mr Mfula urged members to remain disciplined and focused on forming government that will bring development and jobs for the people of Zambia.

And UPND Kitwe District Chairperson in charge of women affairs Violet Chinyanta charged that if GBM had continued to stay in the party until 2021, chances of UPND to win elections would have been reduced.

Ms Chinyanta said the party is elated that GBM left the party to rejoin the ruling Patriotic Front party because he had brought in a lot of confusions by creating parallel structures which are yet to be resolved.
