Citizen University Directors arrested for fraud

Two directors of the Citizen University at the Chingola campus have been arrested for fraud.

The duo Kafula Mubanga 42, and his young brother Benny Mubanga 34, have been arrested for obtaining money by false pretences.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga has confirmed the arrest of the Mubanga for fraud.

Ms Katanga said the duo was enrolling for degree in nursing and clinical medicine without approval from the General Nursing Council of Zambia and Health Professional Council of Zambia.

“We received a complaint from a female student Mutinta Likando 22, 0348 Pamozi Township in Ndola that her money amounting to K16, 150 including other 15 students of Citizen University located along Daghammaskjoed Riverside Township in Chingola was falsely obtained by Citizen University management.

“The duo have collected from 130 student who enrolled for degree in nursing and 25 as clinical medicine since 2017 when it was opened. However, the police opened the case against the Citizen University management and apprehended the three directors thus Kafula Mubanga of house 42 Meanwood Ndeke Road in Llibala Township in Lusaka, working as the director and Vice Chancellor, his young brother Beny of house no 15156 Kamwala South Township, Lusaka who was working as Director and wife to Kafula, Ndinda Muskukwa 29 of same address as Kafula,” she said.

Ms Katanga said the campus at Citizen University of Lusaka has training certificates for both Degree in nursing and clinical medicine from GNC and HPCZ the documents which are not transferable to Chingola Campus.

Musukwa was released since she has been a dormant director of the company.
