A political puncture – Roan sunami

By George Sichula
Any reasonable person would conclude that this election is a big loss to the PF family. Iam ready to call anyone insane for disputing this fact. Consider a car that has a small leak in the petrol tank. It will only be a matter of time before the tank becomes empty and the car grounds to a halt. Similarly consider a boat with a small leak. It will only be a matter of time before the boat takes in enough water and sink it.

You can also learn from a tubeless tyre. It can have a small leak of a nail but the car will continue running without you noticing until morning when it sits on a rim. Every driver has seen that happen to them.

What do we learn from this heavily contested election? Leadership is not a position but influence. One can have a position but yet failing to influence masses. Learn from this. Indeed its a bitter pill to swallow.

Well, this election may look small in the eyes of those who always boast in themselves. One thing that brings great leaders down is pride in themselves. Its unfortunate that we have alot of our people within the inner cycles who do not learn from a warning, but learn from an example like this one. A friend of mine who is a doctor told me that cancer in the early stages does not pain, if it starts paining then it must have reached a dangerous stage.

Is there anything we can do about this ? Yes.
Here are the eleven free advice notes on copperbelt.

1. Mend the boat with the right material
2. Listen to the masses
3. Do not fight members with divergent views
4. Retire some leaders
5. Identify the right people within the party
6. Learn from what has happened
7. Not every animal is a sheep
8. Pay more attention to people than roads, clincs, schools and hospitals
9. Embrace reconciliation as a party. We need elders to be facilitating that.
10.
Deal with the political hatred within the party. In our party if you stand during an election and flop, you straight away become a lebel. It’s like an ambition has become a CRIME. They leaders cant just accomodate you.
11. Lastly, we need real and strong politicians on the ground to deal with this crack. Cracks move very slow but effective

I pray that this article will not incite unreasonable responses. Time is not with us. Lets face issues head on. It will be too dangerous to wait for 2021. We need political engineering in the copperbelt to work on the boat. We cant risk the many lives of people in the boat on CB ocean with a Roan crack.

With so much love for the mighty party and my President (Edgar Lungu and the entire team). Lets not relent….lets restart, stay strong and finish strong

Purely my opinion.
