Fashion preaches team spirit ahead of Malawi clash

Zambia striker Fashion Sakala says he was more focussed on helping the team progress to the next round than individual accolades.

Sakala, who headed Zambia’s solo goal in the 1-0 away win to Malawi on Wednesday in the Egypt 2019 Under-23 Olympic Tournament qualifier told FAZfootball.com that the team will fight to finish off the job on Sunday at National Heroes Stadium.

“I think what is more important is not the goal but that the team won away. I am not proud of the goal but the win for the team,” said the KV Oostende forward.

Sakala said that the team fought hard in Malawi and would aim to do better before the home fans on Sunday.
“We really fought hard in Malawi. It a very tough game, we did what we planned and were successful,” he said.

Zambia host Malawi on Sunday at National Heroes Stadium in the return leg with the winner over two legs facing either Congo Brazzaville or Burundi.

Coach Beston Chambeshi has assembled most his 2017 Under-20 side that won the Africa Cup of Nations and also reached a historic U20 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal.
