Transport on high-Lubinda

Minister of Justice Given Lubinda has attributed the high cost of transport as the biggest hinderance to doing business in the COMESA region.

Speaking during the 21 meeting of COMESA of Justice and Attorney Generals in Lusaka, Mr Lubinda warned that COMESA will not meet its desired aim of anti-competitive trade practices within the region if the cost of transport is not addressed.

The Minister is however delighted that COMESA has continued to strengthen the governance structures and instruments of the institution.

At the same function COMESA General Secretary Sindiso Ngwenya said COMESA is already implementing the block chain technology with respect to the COMESA yellow card and regional transit customs.

Mr. Ngwenya said in the coming months COMESA will be piloting the COMESA Certificate of origin using the block chain system.
