Lubambe Copper Mine (LCM) Communications Manager Loyce Saili led women employees at the mining firm to clean the female ward at Kakoso District Hospital in Chililabombwe.
The team also donated assorted cleaning detergents valued at K15, 000 on the eve of Women’s day which falls on March 8, tomorrow.
Speaking during the cleaning exercise and the donation, Ms Saili who led a team of 30 women from Lubambe said the mining firms should supplement Government’s efforts.
She said provision of basic health care to people prevent large hospital bills.
“The health sector is important to guarantee a healthy population. The mine has identified health as an important sector under our corporate social responsibility. We are happy to celebrate this year’s Women’s Day with you and to put a smile on your faces.
“The donation is part of Lubambe’s initiative and activities to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day. She said Lubambe management is pleased to make the donation to assist management in keeping the hospital clean,” she said.
And the Sister-In-Charge at Kakoso District Hospital Fanny Zulu thanked Lubambe for the donation.
Ms Zulu said the cleaning items would greatly assist the hospital to maintain cleanliness.
She said the needs at the Hospital were many and that any help from corporate entities like Lubambe was most welcome
Lubambe is a Copper Underground mine located in Chililabombwe approximately 40 kilometers from Chingola.
The mine employs over 1200 full time employees and an additional 1, 192 contractors.
