A-57-year-old husband of Chiwempala in Chingola has beaten his wife to death and later went to dive in front of a speeding car which bashed him to death.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga has confirmed the death of Gertrude Mpundu 38, of Nalumango Road in Chiwempala Township to The Independent Observer.
Ms Katanga said Ms Mpundu, a house wife was beaten to death after a marital with her husband Lacabu Simukoko 47, a businessman of Chiwempala.
She said Simukoko soon after killing his wife, he fled and went to commit suicide by diving in front of an oncoming car.
“Ms Mpundu had sustained multiple cuts on shoulder, neck, head, back and also a suspected fractured right arm. Simukoko had run away from the scene of crime to unknown destination unfortunately he was also found dead along Chingola -Chililabombwe road near Kazenene work shop after being hit by unknown motor vehicle and died instantly.
“Police have picked up the two bodies and were taken to Nchanga North General Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem,” she said.
