Police summon Kambwili over ‘racial’ remarks on Indian

Police in Lusaka have summoned Chishimba Kambwili to appear for inquiries at Lusaka Central Police Station this afternoon.

This is according to a callout issued to the opposition National Democratic Congress consultant dated February 21, 2019 and signed by Deputy DCIO P. Sapaulu.

“Hon Chishimba Kambwili of…is required at Lusaka Division Headquarters (Room E3) on 22nd February 2019 for inquiries at 14:00 hours. Your cooperation will be appreciated as he/she will not be detained unnecessarily longer,” reads the call out.

Kambwili has come under heavy criticism for telling off a man suspected to be from India whom he found operating a compactor.

He told the man to go back to India because there were so many Zambians without jobs who could do the job he was doing.

Information minister Dora Siliya accused Kambwili of practicing racism and xenophobia and warned the Roan PF lawmaker could be arrested for the ‘racial and xenophobic attack’.

But Kambwili has said he has no apologies to make for defending Zambians’ jobs/The Mast.
