Seychelles Ship building firm dates Northern Province

Cumana Holdings of Seychelles a firm with experience in Ship Building and operations in several Countries plans to Invest over US 16 Million Dollars to build the first ever Zambian Ships.

The company also intend to erect a Ship building yard in the next 2 years

Northern Province Permanent Secretary Elias Kamanga had the opportunity to meet Engineers from Cumana Holdings who were in the Country to make a presentation to Government on their plans to develop the first ever Ship yard at Mpulungu Harbour on Lake Tanganyika.

Mr Kamanga said the firm hopes to take advantage of the over 10 Million people estimated to be living around the Lake Tanganyika regions of Tanzania, Burundi and DRC to boost trade on the Lake

“During our meeting, Company Representative Dhananjay Dattar said his firm also intends to build and operate two Ships on the Lake Tanganyika whilst building other special ships for Marine patrols,” he said.

He said the Directors from Cumana made presentations of their proposed Investments to my Office and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Mr Kamanga said Cumana promised to ensure that most of the jobs created would go to Zambians and only a few experts would be brought into the Country.

“I am delighted to note that Investors who attended are coming through to actualize their Investment Pledges barely three months after the Expo. Several Investors who signed Investment deals in Agriculture, Tourism, Infrastructure and Energy Sectors have continued making follow ups and are anxious to realize their pledges.

“Cumana Holdings is one of the Companies that signed Investment deals with the Northern Province Administration during its Investment Expo held last November,” he said.
