Radio fastest medium to disseminate information

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party National Youth Chairperson Charles Kabwita has said that Radio is still a readily available medium that can disseminate information to reach the wide spectrum audience in the shortest amount of time.

Mr Kabwita has since urged radio broadcasters to recognize that the freedom of expression must be exercised with great responsibility and sensitivity, high professional ethics and self-regulatory principles.

He said this in his message of world Radio Day, that broadcasters must focus on programmes that address issues concerning peace patriotism and programmes that will be beneficial to the youth group for job creation, entrepreneurship, and Recreation.

Mr Kabwita said Radio programmers should provide a large platform of Radio talk shows that will provide solutions to the problems of corruption, Electoral violence, Public Order Act, Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of speech which are being used by unscrupulous elements to divide us.

“Broadcasters must also enjoy to see themselves as positive agents of change who have the responsibility to foster the progress and peace of our country – Zambia. Therefore place patriotism and love for our country must be observed, other than self, for the development of our Nation,” he said.
