Venture into agro, aquaculture-Kalulushi MP

By JOHN SAKALA
Kalulushi Member of Parliament Kampamba Mulenga has urged the people of Kalulushi to venture into agriculture and aquaculture instead of depending on mining alone.

Ms Mulenga said Kalulushi depends on mining but she said mines cannot employ majority of the people because the population has grown.

It’s for this reason the area Member of Parliament who is also Minister of Livestock and Fisheries is urging the people of Kalulushi to venture into agriculture and aquaculture to increase economic activities in the district.

She said she has embarked on empowering women and youths’ clubs with cows, goats, pigs and chicken.

And Government through the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries has launched the program giving out animals to Cooperatives Countrywide.

She said the program was launched on the Copperbelt two weeks ago.

“People should not worry about the market for their animal products. There is already a market in the Democratic Republic of Congo. What is needed for Zambia is only to supply otherwise the demand is very high.

“Start also growing soya beans. There is a very good market for Soya beans as well and people should consider to start growing the crop for their own benefit,” she said.
