President Lungu mourns Lupando Mwape

President Edgar Lungu says he has received the death of former Vice President Lupando Mwape with considerable regret.

In a statement issued by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda, President Lungu said he is saddened by the death of Mr Mwape and has instructed cabinet office to prepare a state funeral in his honor.

“President Lungu, has received the death of Mr Mwape with considerable regret and conveys his sincere condolences to the bereaved family,” Mr Chanda stated.

Former Vice President Mwape served in the Mwanawasa administration in 2004 to 2006.

He died today in South Africa following his evacuation by government for specialist treatment.
