By JOHN SAKALA
Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe says Kitwe City Council has allocated 1, 192 plots to all low cost applicants.

Posting in Kitwe Mayor Media forum, Mr Kang’ombe said the move was aired at empowering residents with land.

“Our effort is to empower residents of Kitwe with land, especially the low income earners, all applicants for plots in the low cost category have been allocated land on condition that they pay the appropriate service charges.

“While the number of advertised plots were few (only 250 low cost) compared to the over 1, 000 number of applicants, we have identified additional land across the Kafue River in Mufuchani area to plan for all the low cost applicants,” he said.

Mr Kang’ombe said the 1, 192 names allocated land are appearing in the Times of Zambia Newspaper of Today, Saturday 19th of January 2019.

He said additional names have been allocated medium cost plots and extra applicants in the high Cost category, equally on condition that they pay service charges within the specified period.
