Mulonga hikes water tariffs for commercial to 7%

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has increased the water tariffs for domestic commercial and institutions use effective January 2019.

The increase is in all the three service towns Chingola, Chililabombwe and Mufulira.

MWSC Public Relations Manager Debora Kangenda said the increase follows the approval to the adjustment by National Water and sanitation Council (NWASCO).

Ms Kangende said the tariff has been adjusted ranging between 5 and 7 per cent for the period of 2019.

She said the Tariff adjustments will be effective on January 13, 2019.

“Our customers are advised that bills that will be sent out in the month of February will be based on the new tariff. The other charges such as the vacuum tanker hire, kiosk charges, reconnect fees, meter testing fees and others remain the same.

“The adjustment has been effected to cushion the company from inflation of operational cost in order to meet standard operational service,” she said.

She said customers that do not receive bills through SMS are advised to submit their phone numbers to any nearest MWSC nearest office.
