The Nevers Mumba led Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has advised the Zambia Police in the Province to ignore the Felix Mutati continued treacherous activities as they are illegal.
Speaking in an interview in Kitwe today MMD Spokesperson Peter Phiri said activities being done by the the Mutati led group are illegal as the matter was still in the courts.
He said that what the Mutati led group was doing amounts to contempt of court.
“If the police command gives them permission to go ahead with the planned activity they may in the future be cited for contempt. It is common knowledge that the National Secretary Winnie Zaloumis has taken Mr Mutati and three others to court to ask them who gave them the mandate to organize a convention in 2016.
“Mr Mutati in his desperation to gain power has continued to organize illegal activities such as the card renewal exercise in the name of the party. We have information that the Mutati led function are planning to launch the card renewal on the Copperbelt in the first quarter of 2019 without the blessings of the party members and the National Executive Committee (NEC),” he said.
Mr Phiri said Mr Mutati in his desperation has continued organizing illegal activities in the name of MMD.
He said the activities which appear like party card renewal have no blessings from the patry’s NEC and are aimed at bringing the name of the party into disguise.
He advised the police command to follow suit with what some church mother bodies have done of ignoring Mr Mutati and his group.
