Lungu drops Army Commander Mihova, his Deputy

In a NewYear’s changes, President Edgar Lungu has terminated the contract of Zambia Army Commander, Lt. General Paul Mihova and his Deputy Maj. General Jackson Miti.

Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations at State House, Amos Chanda announced shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of the new Army Commander, Lt. General William Sikazwe.

He said the decision to drop the army commander was done in exercise of powers vested in the President under article 92(1) of the Constitution.

In his place President Lungu has appointed Brig. General William Sikazwe as new Army Commander.

President Lungu has also promoted Brig General Sikazwe to the rank of Lieutenant General with immediate effect.

President Lungu has also dropped Deputy Army Commander, Maj. General Jackson Miti.

A new replacement will be announced for the Deputy Army Commander in due course.
