Fortune Investments Limited, Managing Director Mukumbi Kafuta is the new President of the North-Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NWCCI).
Mr Kafuta, who was Vice-President for Industry and Manufacturing in the out-going executive, took over the Chamber presidency during the annual general meeting (AGM) held at Kansanshi Hotel in Solwezi on Saturday, December 22, 2018.
He romped to victory after trouncing his only challenger, Chisha Chanda 30-19 to claim the leadership of the Chamber, from Josephine Makondo who did not seek re-election.
During the AGM, which was also attended by Chief Mumena of the Kaonde-speaking people of Kalumbila District, Kayula Lombanya retained her position as Vice-President for Commerce, with a 28-20 drubbing of marketing strategist Kenny Sinyangwe, who wanted to have a go at the Chamber leadership.
The position of Vice-President for Industry and Manufacturing went to veteran Edgar Makaliki, who went through unopposed, so did Vice-President for Services Margaret Phiri and Treasurer Peter Bwalya.
The four members at large who also went through unopposed are Besa Kyanamina, Christopher Kawewe, Enny Chipungu and Amos Kapi.
Outgoing President Makondo will continue in the executive in as Immediate Past President/Solwezi Today.
